What is credit “clean up”? It’s a term that has been used for decades, but what does it really mean? Many people believe there is a way to delete creditors from their credit reports. The truth is, debt elimination doesn’t exist in today’s world because there are no laws on the books which allow creditors and lenders to be completely wiped out.
If someone is promising you that they can erase your debt or reduce it significantly, then there’s a good chance that they are scamming you.
As debt elimination scams grow, more scammers are taking advantage of the vulnerable by promising to remove or clean credit. Most will need very sensitive information from you, such as your social security number, birth date, and address. They will also require fees to be paid upfront. Be careful not to reveal any personal information.
Some of these scammers will write to your creditors and say there an error in hopes that the company will not reply in the time allowed by law. Lying can get you in legal trouble. It’s important to be ethical and avoid these scams.
If the debt is really an error, then you have every right to have it removed.
You don’t need to spend a lot to get this cleared. You can either write a letter yourself or if you prefer to hire an attorney to help you get your credit report corrected that’s also an option.
